Plaque on Rolls' Statue, Monmouth

The statue of Charles Rolls in Agincourt Square (see SO5012 : Statue of Charles Stewart Rolls, Monmouth for more information) has three bronxe plaques attached to the plinth. They celebratehis enthusiasm for motor racing, ballooning and (this one) his non-stop two-way crossing of the English Channel in 1910. The dedication inscribed here reads: CHARLES STEWART ROLLS MA FRCS AM I MECH E BORN AVG 27 1877 DIED JVLY 12 1910
