See the Good—Emily Benatar

“See the good” This deck is dedicated to Emily Benatar, Class of 2011 Designed by Gracie Cain, Emily’s best friend at Paly The story behind the design Emily had just turned 5. She was holding her mom’s hand as they walked up the front path to an old house. Emily's mom was teeling apprehensive about the meeting they were going to and became even more so when she saw the tront yard filled with dusty, overgrown ivy. Then Emily piped up. “Mommy— look at that beautiful rose!” She pointed towards a lone white rose, growing from a stick of a plant, in the middle of the ivy. Emily’s mom smiled. All Emily saw was the one beautiful thing in the yard. She never lost that childlike appreciation for the beauty and joy in life and when we remember her, we’re reminded to “see the good.” The rose-patterned design of this deck is inspired by Emily seeing the white rose.
